CRISTIANO RONALDO has had a trophy laden career but 2016 might just be his best.
In the last 18 months he has had critics saying he is slowing up and that his time at thetop is soon to be coming to and end, especially with Real Madrid.
Clubs circled and sounded out the new world champions about the Portuguese captain and were told firmly that he was notfor sale.
PSG were the main chasers but their was no truth to the rumours that Madrid felt the time was right to let their main asset leave.
Perhaps they would have been if the club had not been slapped with a transfer ban but there is a feeling that Zinedine Zidane knew that Ronaldo still had unfinished business.
Ronaldo’s answer to his critics? Four trophies, including the one that he has craved ever since making his international debut, Portugal’s first ever trophy as they won Euro 2016 in Paris.
The other three have a stamp of Ronaldo's influence all over them also, especially the Ballon d'or of course, the fourth time he has been crowned the best player in the world.
It seems ages ago that Real Madrid beat rivals Atleltico in the Champions League final back in May on penalties to seal their 11th European crown and Ronaldo's third.
